How do I find you…?Nelson Mandela says “I don’t have any body else but you”…
When I told someone close to me that the Maui Adventure Tour had filled up….their response was “great! how much money did you make?”
Uh…I had not even thought about it, and I told the truth…”none”.
A schmirk and downturned eyes came from my depositioner. I started to defend myself but just let it go…and on my bike ride home I asked myself how I thought I was going to make it ?
Making it….to where? Well, I gotta eat, and so do my kids and we have to be warm and dry and well.
And we are.
And because we are, we share lots of fun and great belly laughs….and then I got to thinking about travel and laughter and money…
So first…..Where are the best laughs??
One of mine was at 12,000 feet in a small village in Nepal on my way to Annapurna. Simply said, we were served yet more Dahl Baht and then because the weather was so bad outside, the men and the women inside began to sing, and play lap drums and they laughed and it was dark , so they built a fire, then the french boys from another camp came over, we all began to dance and the laughter started to build even though we could not communicate words, we just all LAUGHED and danced and we laughed so hard that I truly worried that my heart might not be able to take it at that altitude!! but it did, and we never forgot sharing those moments together.
I brought it home…the laughter, and now when I see my “didi” whom I traveled with then, first thing, before words even or hugs….is the bubbling up of a roiling laughter.
For me TRAVEL MAKES LAUGHTER and it makes me FREE OF STUFF and even if I didn’t make money filling the Maui Tour, I am going to send you photos from it, of the LAUGHs of our guests, of which I bet will be many.
I’ll make some money…just enough to get back out there, and enough to keep base camp comfortable.
Enough to feed those I love and hopefully inspire them…
I leave this blog with a question to myself: How do I find you?? Intelligent people, seeking enlightening destinations local or not, who laugh hard and long at sunrises, sunsets, and altitudes you !!, who know the true value of money and funny-ness!!
