INTRODUCTION
Welcome Home to a Timeless American West
As you enter the Elk River Valley, just beyond Steamboat Springs CO you may notice the peaked eaves of the barns, the storybook crest of Hahn’s Peak in the distance, and the feeling that you are going back in time to a more idyllic landscape, one that hasn’t changed much in 100 years. Colorado as you hoped it would be, and as it once was. Big ranches. Blue skies. Real cowboys.
And tucked away at the far end of the valley, where the Elk River flows from the Sawtooth Range, is one of the West’s best dude ranches, offering year-round multi-sport adventures, legendary horseback riding vacations and on this very special tour a Cowboy Ball!!,.
A luxury dude ranch ,this Ranch is an idyllic Rocky Mountain hideaway set amid the timeless beauty of the Elk River Valley. The only Relais and Chateaux dude ranch in America, we are renowned for our singular charm, refined comfort, exquisite cuisine and genuine hospitality.
Our elegant Western accommodations are comprised of our main lodge with its 6 unique lodge rooms and 8 distinctive cabins, nestled in the aspens, surrounding our lodge. All of our lodging offers magnificent views of mountains, meadows, horses and aspens.
You will experience “haute mountain cuisine” and designated as “cooking of the highest standard.” This ranch cuisine has been duly praised by Bon Apetit, Gourmet, Food and Wine.
| CHEF BIO – People wonder why our executive chef, Clyde Nelson, isn’t in some big city. The answer is simple: Clyde is “allergic to cities.” If he wasn’t, his restaurant would be winning accolades in Manhattan or San Francisco or anywhere people value artful cuisine. But ever since his early days in Stowe, Vermont as the gifted apprentice of Master Chef Anton Flory, Clyde has always been a high country chef, drawn to the mountains, yet steeped in the culinary traditions of the Old World. His classical, slow food aesthetic is filtered through a New Western approach, drawing on the seasonal bounty of the Rocky Mountain region. He grows his own produce in the summer and sources his game as close to home as possible. As he puts it, “you have no idea how difficult we make it on ourselves here.” By difficult, he means loving devotion to his craft. |
Treasured by horseback riding enthusiasts for our excellent horses, supportive wranglers, breathtaking scenery, and genuine hospitality, our luxury dude ranch welcomes everyone who wants an opportunity to ride amid the timeless beauty of the Elk River Valley.
Whether you have been riding all of your life, or you have always wanted to ride, we believe that an equestrian vacation at The Home Ranch will be one of the most memorable Colorado vacations you could imagine.
With a million acres of Rocky Mountain Wilderness at our doorstep, a herd of 100 horses in our meadows, and helpful wranglers to bring out your best riding, we give you access to an enchanted Western experience that makes you feel like you’re in cowboy heaven.
